   Contacted USEPA, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (CVMVCD) about this problem. CVMVCD said they would send someone to investigate. I will post follow-up comments once I hear back from EPA and BIA.

   CVMVCD provided the following comments this afternoon:
   
   Thank you for getting touch with us regarding the standing water at the Lawson Dump between Avenue 68 and 70 and Pierce. We are aware of it and are regularly monitoring and treating it for mosquito breeding. We are currently monitoring 12 artesian wells on absentee properties in the area of the North end of the Salton Sea. Scot Lawson, the brother of the owner of the dump has placed a cap of sorts on the well and it has stopped the water, (jpg. Attached). The site is also under treatment for larvae. Hopefully the site will be completely dry before requiring an additional treatment.
   Again, thanks for bring the standing water to our attention. These tips help in finding a lot of mosquito breeding.

   Spoke to a Vector Control Technician II today at the site. The Area has been sprayed and no mosquitoes are present. Water came up from an unused well @ the area.
