Real Estate Agent is clearing Lots in Salton City but no dust mitigation

Location: Video: Huntington Ave and Pomona Ave, Salton City, CA - although there are many lots

Description

In the last few months, a real estate agent has been clearing lots, clearing off all the shrubbery and vegetation. This is probably to demonstrate the size of each lot and make it appear clean and ready to be sold. However, as there is nothing to keep the dust down, when the wind storms come in, it kicks up all this dust. I do not know how many lots have been cleared this way, but it is as least twenty. I am not sure anything can be done to keep this agent from clearing more lots, as it is private property.

Salton City falls within the jurisdiction of the Imperial Air Pollution Control District (IAPCD). I contacted them, forwarding your report, and was told that they do not recognize IVAN complaints as valid, meaning they have their own complaint protocols established. Consequently, they requested that you contact their offices directly at (760) 482-4606. The IAPCD also has a very good "How to File a Complaint" web site which can be found at: (http://www.co.imperial.ca.us/airpollution/Web%20Pages/FILING%20A%20COMPLAINT.htm). Regardless, IAPCD did say that they will have one of their inspectors do a compliance survey the next time they are in the area. I hope this helps remedy the dust situation in Salton City.
